iPhone -- Gotta Have One
Wow. What a keynote. I completely forgot about all the things I
wanted to hear about: Leopard, '07 versions of iLife and iWork... I
mean, after appleTV, which we all knew was coming, it
happened.
The iPhone.
I certainly can't explain it any better than the Apple iPhone
Website, so I'll leave that to the experts (and be sure to
check out the "QuickTours"). Suffice it to say, though, that in my
humble opinion this is truly the--to quote Steve Jobs--"the
ultimate digital device."
Can't wait...
Macworld Expo is tomorrow
Well, it's that time of year again, and the Macworld Expo starts
tomorrow. That means that Steve Jobs' keynote is tomorrow (11:00
central). It should be quite exciting--I know I'll be sitting in
front of my web browser at work furiously hitting refresh on about
3 different websites to get all the poop...
My predictions? Hey, I'd be happy to offer a few predictions--I
think Steve will be there and I think he'll announce a couple new
products and updates to at least several. How's that for rock solid
prognosticating?
Welcome 2007
Despite some bursts of greatness, like Pacman's 81-yard punt return for touchdown with :53 seconds remaining in the 2nd quarter, the Patriots were ultimately too much for the Titans, and dealt the Titans their first loss in 7 weeks, winning 40-23. What a heartbreaker. Well, just wait 'till next season! We'll be back and we'll be serious!
Thanks Titans, for an amazing second half, after what was an awful start. You really gave us something to be proud of!
I don't know what to say. That was an amazingly tense game. You almost couldn't have scripted a more nerve-wracking game... But again, the only thing I'm concerned with at the moment is the "W". No matter what else happens this weekend, we are guaranteed to not be eliminated from the playoffs going into the last week of the regular season--not bad for a team that started the season 0-5, eh?
Go Titans!
Pardon my language, but jeez louise. What a game today... Jacksonville fans must be totally heartbroken after a game like this where the Jaguars TOTALLY DOMINATED the Titans in all but two statistics: turnovers and score.
Today was not a day of offense: five first downs, 98 total yards, 15 minutes of possession and 3 points scored (after an impressive second-half kickoff return by Pacman Jones). Clearly, the story today was defense, and specifically the defense's ability today to capitalize on turnovers. Four turnovers by Jacksonville resulted in 21 points for the Titans. The impressive string of turnover-touchdowns began with a Pacman Jones interception which he returned for 6. Then Cortland Finnegan recovered a David Garrard fumble which he returned for a touchdown. Then, not to be left out, Chris Hope intercepted a pass that he made into 6 point. And lastly, late in the forth quarter, after letting the Jaguars have the ball back with over a minute on the clock, Reynaldo Hill intercepted a ball which was tipped by Vincent Fuller.
What a game! These Titans don't do it pretty, but they bring the "W".
Even some of the "pundits" are taking notice and pronouncing, as I have, that the Titans are "for real."
Today, we won our fourth in a row and sixth in the last eight games. That makes us, perhaps, the hottest team in the NFL with the exception of San Diego, who've won seven in a row!
Once again, it wasn't the prettiest win, but we won--they just never gave up. Capping the win, of course, was the beautiful 39-yard run on 3rd-and-14 by Titans quarterback Vince Young. Another VERY dramatic win for the Titans!
These guys are for real. For the second time in two weeks, the Tennessee Titans came from behind to beat a favored team. This time, it was our dreaded division rivals the Indianapolis Colts. This win over the Colts couldn't have come at a better time--they've won the previous seven games--we haven't beat the Colts since December 2002!
But, the story of the day has to be what happened late in the forth quarter. Indianapolis kicked a field goal to tie the game at 17-17 and the Titans got the ball back with 2:38 remaining in the fourth quarter. Starting at our own 25 yard line, we marched all the way down the field toward the... well, ok, we didn't exactly march all the way down the field. We made it across mid-field to the Indy 42, then with 15 seconds left on the clock, we needed 10-20 yards to get close enough for a reasonable field goal attempt to win the game. On 3rd and 11 from the Indy 42, however, Vince Young slipped and and threw a pass which fell incomplete. Fourth and 11 from the Indy 42 presented itself with 12 seconds left. With nothing to lose, Coach Fisher sent in the field goal unit. Rob Bironas lined up for a sixty yard attempt. With fingers interlaced and breath held I watched Rob Bironas kick a game winning field goal--the second in two weeks. Sixty yards of leg--that's right--SIXTY YARDS. That's the longest field goal in franchise history and tied for the forth longest in NFL history.
I'm no expert, but I tell ya', we are looking forward to good things next season! What a team!
Talk about your "ugly wins"--that's exactly what the Titans managed today, and ugly win. But, as I've said numerous times before I'll take and ugly win over a beautiful loss any day--who wouldn't? In any event, it was a fairly impressive comeback--24 unanswered points in the last 12 minutes (21 points of which came on 3 touchdowns in a 9 minutes span). It marks the biggest fourth quarter comeback in team history--the previous mark was set November 1, 1987 when the Houston Oilers came back from a 15 point fourth quarter deficit versus the Cincinnati Bengals.

The Titans showed glimpses of, hopefully, a bright future to come. Andrew "Pacman" Jones has been impressing lately--it would appear that he is finally starting to reach the level that Coach Fisher has been saying we can expect from him for over a year--that's good news. Vince Young showed that he is cut from the same cloth as the great quarterbacks who've preceded him at the helm of this organization--most notably Steve McNair. With 2:44 remaining in the fourth quarter and the Titans down 21-14, Vince scrambled but good on a desperation 4th and 10 and picked up 19 yards with his legs for a critical first down. Glipses of the future and echoes of the past.
What a game for Titans fans!
